Social Media Tutorial – the why and how of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, blog readers, and personal branding
This presentation is a good basic tutorial on social media. It covers the why and how of Facebook, Twitter, blog readers, and personal branding. I designed it for incoming Notre Dame MBA students but it has proven itself valuable for everyone from my parents, to executives, to my peers who don’t quite get why everyone is suddenly talking about Twitter. Basically anyone looking to understand what social media is all about.

Dan that’s AWESOME.
Did you see the Daily Show the other night where Jon Stewart was making fun of CNN’s reliance on social media? Heh.
More importantly: will there be baby pictures on this website? HMMM?

Dan – this is a terrific presentation. I’m trying to share it on my blog but its not working – yet! Do you mind if I use your checklist in an upcoming presentation that I have (and give you credit of course). I have a volunteer presentation to individuals in transition – unemployed. I’ll share my final results with you.

Glad you found the presentation useful! Definitely feel free to borrow for your presentation.
To embed it try double clicking through to the original presentation on Slideshare. In the upper right there should be a box that says “embed” and some html you can cut and paste to embed it into your blog.

Hi Maggie! Was that the Jon Stewart where he was trying to talking to the correspondant who was tweeting while talking to him?
As for baby pictures, I’m thinking no. I’m keeping those on Facebook.

Great presentation…a must see for anyone who wants to know about Social Networking. Social networking will soon become the most effective way of building your professional career and creating a personal brand. However, one will have to invest time in learning the effectiveness of these sites and ways to use them properly.
In addition to the LinkedIn sites you have mentioned, I would also suggest a new book called “How to REALLY use LinkedIn” by networking
